A must have item - a 12v socket for charging stuff (camera batts/GPS unit/spotlight etc.) mounts

nicely on the bars.  It is well made and only £3.50 (new) off e-bay.

Forgot to mention - had a look at the spark plugs and they look a good colour, so I may be lucky in

so far as the carburation seems to be ok (performance ok too) even with the chopped exhaust and

a K&N air filter fitted.

After a good continental test run - I'm not happy with the throw over panniers, so I am going to make and fit wire freezer baskets, similar to the previous bike (the yellow one in early pics).

These will be sourced from the local tip (recycling), adapted and fitted independently to each side. The advantages are hardly any weight, cheap (free!), reasonably secure and if the bike should drop on its side, they cushion the impact and then can be bent back to shape.  They are also good for attaching bits to.

A few pics to show how they were put together.
1- main basket attached to frame with two ally plates and sitting on the foot peg to take some weight.
2- another basket cut down and bent to shape, to make a lid/door attached at the bottom with many cable ties.
3- a piece cut out of an old plastic bread basket, to form the base, also cable tied in place.
4- a bungee cord cut down and fed through the holes to fasten either side (an extra fastening will be used as well).
