As my last Honda CB500 was performing so well before I had to abandon the trip, I could see no reason at all why to use anything different for this second attempt. So meet ............ (insert name here!) my new, (well, not that new) Honda CB500, Bought off friend, Simon, for the princely sum of £400. Its a 1996 model with the drum brake rear (which I prefer).

It is a bit tatty (especially the bodywork) but a bit of rubbing / filling, and a couple of spray cans will make it look a little better. It doesn't need to be smart, as it's going to have a tough life over the next few years! and I don't want it to stand out either! Mechanically, it seems very sound, with a lowish mileage engine. Basically, it has been slowly worked on to first get it through an MoT, which was achieved on 15/4/2013, it passed with no problems.... So now, I'll run it for a few miles to sort out any niggles, then start to take it apart & fit all the bits and pieces (lots left over from my old CB) needed for travelling the vast and hard distances involved.

The blue pics are as I got the bike.......the red pics are as it stands today after passing its MoT (pretty standard) The pic of the yellow bike in is roughly how it should be looking soon! I will post further pics and descriptions as I progress....
