Some mods/alterations to the bike

After the test trip a couple of weeks ago, I am not confident with the bodged pannier rack and home-made top box rack, so have removed them and fitted a very nice condition RENTEC rack (e-bay £10), on the back, which fits a lot better and seems more sound.
 

When trying to fit the top box (waterproof), found that it had to sit

too far back over the tail because of the bar you see in the picture!
 
So that was taken off and another (Honda made) rack, obtained again

through the ads. (£10) was fitted, allowing the box to mount further

forward.
 

At another car boot sale, I spotted some kiddies lunch pouches.  These

are just what I'm after to hang off either side of the tank, one to hold

all the tyre/puncture tools and equipment and the other should hold

my first aid stuff (close to hand).
 

One picture shows what is currently in the top box:

• cooker, camping cook set, mug etc.

• tea/coffee/sugar etc.

• dry snack bars,

• lots of packets of dry pasta meals/rice meals (enough to last a week or two)

 

The idea being to purchase/scrounge/fish and eat locally if possible and use what's in here as a last resort.  Then, if used, top up as and when possible, so I will always have a survival kit if needed.

 
Underneath all this, are a few spares, like various cables etc. and the water filter.
