An absolute necessity - crash bars fitted (off my old bike, £30 off e-bay).  I'm sure they'll get some use, but hopefully, not too much.

Took the bike out for a short spin up to Matlock Bath in Derbyshire.  It seemed pretty good performance wise, with the altered exhaust not seeming to make much difference (no flat spots or anything).  It sounds pretty good too, without being too loud!  Will take the spark plugs out to check the colour.

I had some pieces of an old Givi Wing rack lying about, so I fabricated some brackets and bodged it on - seems sound.  Had to remove some of the tailpiece unit on either side, to fit the altered brackets but no problems.  A simple piece of thin plywood (painted black) for a topbox mounting plate. This also makes the whole rack a lot stronger now.

Recently, on a trip back home to Derby, I realised I was passing near DK Bike Spares in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire.  I called in, on the off chance of any old top boxes.  Lucky me! -the nice man went in the backroom and eventually sorted something out which may be suitable.  An old top box with a few small holes, no key and a few scratches etc. Just the job. A couple of hours later, it was sorted and fitted (& red too).

I have fitted a couple of Oxford throw over soft panniers, to see if they'll be suitable. Not too much to do now.......fork springs to sort out and gaiters to protect the chrome.
